What we are made of

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 reads "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!"

I want to tell you about my day. Partly because the sun was shining, partly because I treated myself to a long leisurely lunch at Caius, but mainly because my best friend came online last night and within seconds of hearing the distress in my voice - and the uncertainty of my thoughts - called me up. And we ended up talking about some things I really needed to work out. She shared with me some things I really needed to hear, and asked questions that I needed to address. I won't go into details because for now, it's something that I'm still thinking over, something I will hold like a treasure until the time is right to share.

People say that we are shaped by those around us, that we are the company we keep. And I believe it. I do. But I also know that nothing compares to those we hold within us.
