There is nothing better than good food, friends and family. What makes such moments even more spectacular are when those friends are your family and the food is made by their hands.
It has been a good six months since the four of us last sat down together. It's been six months since we last sat around a table of stories and cinnamon buns; six months since we last indulged in a make-believe future that consisted of the four of us in our mid-forties. I miss my girls and I didn't know how much until the last one of us flew in last night at 2 a.m. to make it to our brunch this morning; with her there, the picture was complete.
These past couple of months have been incredible in just the way that God has allowed each and every one of our individual relationships to grow. Despite being physically separated, I don't think we've ever been closer. In this past year we have laughed and cried together, opened and assuaged old and new wounds together and we have even had the privilege of spending time together whenever two or three of us have been in town. But coming together as four is something incredible and after six months, we only had one day - less than 24 hours - to spend and it just wasn't enough.
If I had to tell my girls one thing tonight I would tell them that no other people - outside of my immediate family - are as much cherished as they in this heart. You guys mean the world to me and if these walls could talk, the stories would last a lifetime.
