It's truly amazing how different the world looks from the 'eyes of God'. How the heaviest storms and driest droughts can have a purpose when we remember the one who made all things and is in all things.
These past few weeks have been especially tough with regards to work. I've never felt so demoralized or empty or blocked in terms of research and it really has been a struggle. Coming back from the library today, I realized that I didn't really feel like cooking tonight and so I decided to go to fellowship instead for dinner (there's always amazing home cooked chinese food before the start of each meeting), planning to leave shortly after to go home.
Audrey and Joyce and Jean were cooking and walking into the kitchen felt so good. There was freshly roasted chicken, a huge tub of cabbage and carrots, eggs and tomatos (my favorite), eggs and mushroom and so much rice!! Hugs abound and questions about how I was doing, I just felt so blessed, so loved. Even though I couldn't go into London with them yesterday, they made sure that they were thinking of me, praying for me and I just wanted to cry.
After third helpings (I love how much we can eat!!) we said goodbye to Joyce and Jean who were driving up to Ipswitch for their attachment this week. And after much debate, I decided to stay for singspiration, which led me to stay for the message and the prayer time afterwards. What a feeling of refreshment! The songs were cool waves that washed over us, reminders of God's faithfulness, of who He is. The message was challenging - the book of Daniel being so rich in God's works. Prayer was edifying and united.
The world's not always a happy place. Hard times do happen. We do get downtrodden. But it's amazing how when we focus our eyes past all of that, and see Him, that everything is suddenly cast in a new light, tinged with warmth. And you just know that everything is going to be okay.

*smiles* Don't you love it when you decide, against your initial plan, just to stay and experience true fellowship?? Family of Christ, when done correctly, can be pretty darn awesome. :)

Hey I remember that session - that was great! One of the best CF meetings ever, that I'll remember for quite some time to come. Thank you again for staying and praying for me on that evening. =)
