I ordered a Hymns Cd from Passion 2 weeks ago and today, after sending an email investigating its arrival, the mailman showed up at my door and well, needless to say I got the cd; it's fantastic. So I'm listening to Chris Tomlin's version of Frances R. Havergal's "Take my Life (and let it be)" at this moment.
There's something about music that cannot be replaced with anything in this world. You can be in the darkest of places, deepest of moods, and it can reach into those recesses in just a manner of moments. It can incite, can move you to tears, can stir up desire, and most of all, can bring you to your knees. How great is that? Combine the power of words, the lyricism of poetry and the absolute beautiful combinations of sound to touch the parts no one else can reach; all you have to do is listen.
I went to see my professor today about my Honours Proposal and well, I was a little disappointed. It's hard because unlike my other professors, he truly believes he knows it all. I don't want my paper to be his, and I'm really not interested in sexuality and gender in the Faerie Queene. No, I am interested in the way Spenser uses allegories and metaphors to merge the material and linguistic world together. I am interested in language itself. Sorry, just a little vent. I can tell that this year is going to be tough and right now I'm starting to question my choice. The only thing is, he's the only choice for the work I want to study.
Anyway, there are a couple of books that I need to pick up for my reading list this summer. Anyone interested in going used bookstore shopping with me?? Chapters doesn't really have any of the old 16th C stuff I need. We could make a day out of it.
