So my head has been infused with Tree Hill soundtrack music lately (note that Maroon 5 has been around since episode six for those newbies who have only recently hopped on the wagon so HA! [I admit I am a little territorial when it comes to these things hehe]) and doing the everday University student thing. In general, this week has been pretty good. Nothing overly exciting has happened but I'm happy to report that I've *FINALLY* finished Book II of the Faerie Queene and now on my way to translate a passage from Thucydides. Ah, life is grand for the student who's life is completely taken over by academic mumbo-jumbo ;)
On a more personal level, I'm still trying to figure out who I am and what I'm after. With Grad school looming just ahead, I still wonder how exactly I fit into God's grand scheme of things. There is still a part of me that wonders whether we're not all supposed to drop everything and become missionaries. Logic would point to otherwise but I guess the heart has its own timing in understanding things. Maybe I'm just not there yet (wherever I'm supposed to be). That said, I'm looking forward to the Workplace Ministry conference in November when such questions are addressed. I'm hoping that that will shed some light on things.
At present, I'm reading a book called The Immoralist. It is by Andre Gide, who won the 1947 Nobel Prize for Literature. In a nutshell, it is basically about a man - Michel - who, after a near death experience following his wedding, resolves to live his life free from God or values. I haven't gone too far into it yet but it promises to be provoking. My resolve is to have the cover and first few pages posted in "what we read" within the next few days ;) - definetly not as gutsy as the protagonist but hey, a goal is a goal. Oh! Also look forward to a posting of the Annotated Lolita. That in itself should prove to be an interesting post!
