Recipe for Paper I: Weeks straight on end 9-7 buried in the depths of the Cambridge University LIbrary; intersperse with loving Brits at lunch and tea time in the Tea Room; Several days trapped writing furiously in the Attic; A room with a view; A good friend writing madly in a house just across the river; Most of all, God's grace :)
Nearing into the last quarter of my paper yesterday, I looked out my window and saw God's beautiful sunset. Caught my breath for a few moments and just had to run to get my camera. God is so good. His mercies are new every morning. Great is His faithfulness.
I can't believe I'm going home in less than a week! Now that the first draft of my paper I is completed, it feels more real than ever. Just a phD proposal to go and then it'll be Wednesday I'm sure. I couldn't sleep last night. As I finished talking to my best friend (until nearly 2 am!) I lay in bed thinking about how much has transpired over these past two months, how much I have shared and how much I have grown. The Lord is so good.
So on my list today: polish up the bibliography, go into town and hand in my draft to my supervisor's pigeon hole at Caius, pass by the English Faculty to pick up reading for more research, head into the UL, go out to dinner with good friends :) begin my goodbyes.
Last night, my house had a "christmas party" in our kitchen. Nothing fancy - consisted of a great group of 5 people around a kitchen table drinking mulled wine and eating mince pies while playing rounds and rounds of "Who Am I?" "after-eight" ;) It was wonderful. Merry Christmas Calgary! See you soon! And Candice - many blessings on wherever you are this day and in the days to come. Will miss you.
